Across civilisations, faith and tradition have found expression not only in sacred spaces, but also in the objects of everyday life. Drawing from the eclectic collections of Houseum, this visual journey travels across religions, regions and centuries through doors and locks, lamps and vessels, sculptures and symbols, architecture, ritual and craftsmanship.

Through unusual objects and the stories they hold, it explores how intangible faith finds tangible form, and how tradition takes shape through culture, history and human ingenuity. Look beyond what an object is, and discover what it means.

About the Speaker

With an exceptional academic background, Dr. Hiren Shah is a consulting pediatrician in Ahmedabad, running his Shaishav Children Hospital for over four decades. Beyond medicine, he is widely known for his passion for travel, photography, art collection, museums, and cultural heritage.

An avid traveller, Dr. Shah has explored nearly 60 countries and over 600 destinations across India and the world. Through travelogues, blogs, photo essays, social media, and public lectures, he shares stories that blend geography, history, nature, and culture.

A passionate travel photographer, he has held acclaimed solo exhibitions and has received awards and accolades at national and international photography competitions.

Dr. Shah is also the creator of Houseum, a unique house museum in Ahmedabad displaying nearly 10,000 artifacts across more than 25 thematic collections. Its highlights include the Lock Museum, housing around 3,000 locks, including nearly 500 trick locks, and EnigmatTic, India’s pioneering puzzle museum featuring over 2,000 mechanical puzzles and artifacts. He has represented India at several international puzzle conventions as the country’s only member of the global community of metagrobologists for over two decades.

Combining the eye of a photographer with the curiosity of an explorer, Dr. Shah’s presentations are known for their engaging storytelling, rich visuals, and inspiring insights into the world’s natural and cultural wonders.
